Duo MFA was born of the musical and human encounter between Margot and Florent Aillaud, two artists who graduated from the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris. Along the way, they honed their skills with great guitarists and teachers, and benefited from their invaluable advice (Kazuhito Yamashita, Judicaël Perroy, Marcin Dylla, Roland Dyens, Leo Brouwer, Shin-Ichi Fukuda, Lorenzo Micheli, Pavel Steidl). They are prizewinners and finalists in numerous international solo and chamber music competitions (FNAPEC, Léopold Bellan, Nordhorn, Paris Guitar Foundation, Cap Ferret, Lichtenchtein...). Strengthened by these encounters, the MFA Duo has forged its artistic identity and has been performing in concert for several years, both in France and abroad (Copenhagen, Berlin, Valencia, Milan...).

Their desire to share their music with all audiences, from the discerning music lover to the listener less familiar with classical music, is realized first and foremost through meticulous research, to offer a repertoire that is at once eclectic, original and attractive. The "Les guitares bien tempérées" program offers an opportunity to discover or rediscover great works originally composed for keyboard (harpsichord, organ, piano, chamber music with piano), which Duo MFA has transcribed for their guitar duo formation. This brings a personal, playful and unusual touch to this musical moment, bringing together composers as far apart in time and style as Johann Sebastian Bach and Philip Glass, via Clara Schumann and György Ligeti.

The Duo MFA's latest recording, also named "Les guitares bien tempérées", is conceived in two parts, as a nod to the two Books of the Well-Tempered Clavier by Johann Sebastian Bach, and released in 2020 and 2022. The MFA Duo is supported by Cordes Savarez and the Nguyen Thien Dao Foundation. Margot and Florent Aillaud play guitars designed by master French luthier François Monnier.
