Biography

Florent Aillaud regularly performs in concerts in France and abroad, both as a solo artist and in chamber music as part of Duo MFA : Guitar Festivals in Copenhagen, Valencia, Aarhus, Paris, Lyon….

He is a prize winner and finalist of numerous international competitions, including Guitar Foundation of America, FNAPEC, Pittaluga, Léopold Bellan, Eppelborn, Nordhorn, Paris Guitar Foundation, Roland Dyens.

He has studied at the Pôle Supérieur 93 and Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris under the guidance of Judicaël Perroy (Bachelor and Master of Performance and Pedagogy). He also benefited from various workshops and masterclasses, where he had the privilege of receiving advices from artistic personalities such as Rafael Aguirre (Spain), Roberto Aussel (Argentina), Marcin Dylla (Poland), Shin-Ichi Fukuda (Japan), Lorenzo Micheli (Italy), Pavel Steidl (Czech Republic), and Kazuhito Yamashita (Japan).

He co-founded Duo MFA with Margot Aillaud. Together, they recorded a double album titled "Les guitares bien tempérées" (Books I and II), released in 2020 and 2022, featuring their own transcriptions of keyboard works (harpsichord, piano, organ) by Jean-Philippe Rameau, J.S. Bach, César Frank, Clara Schumann, György Ligeti, Astor Piazzolla, Philip Glass. Some of their transcriptions are edited by l'Empreinte Mélodique.

Florent Aillaud is also involved in composition. His solo guitar piece "Eeriest Isle After Henry Purcell" and pedagogical composition for guitar trio or ensemble, "Tango de la Bruja," received awards at Michele Pittaluga and Eppelborn International Composition Competitions. These compositions are published by Ut Orpheus (Italy) and Productions d’Oz (Canada).

With a desire to transmit his passion for the guitar and guide students on their musical journeys, Florent Aillaud teaches at the Conservatoire à Rayonnement Régional d’Aix-en-Provence. He plays on a guitar built by the master luthier François Monnier.
