Biography

Eerik Maurage, of Belgian-Finnish nationality, was born in Brussels in 1991.
 
He started violin and solfeggio lessons at the age of 6 at the Suzy Zuinen Musical Pedagogical Institute, where he later studied classical guitar and harmony, while also developing his self-taught electric guitar skills.
 
At the same time he studied photography at the Redouté Peiffer Institute.
 
He then entered the Royal Conservatory of Brussels and obtained the Master's degree in guitar with great distinction in 2017, under the tutelage of guitar teacher Hugues Navez.
 
Very early on, he created rock bands: Take Rubbish, and Space Quake. With these bands, he will perform and make his first experiences in the rock and metal scene.
 
He participated in the French virtuoso band Dead Season and developed his first professional international experiences which marked a turning point for his future choices.
 
At the same time, he participated as a solo guitarist in various cover bands including
 
"Placeboys", "Bowie & You", ....
 
From the age of 18, he gave guitar lessons at the Suzy Zuinen Musical Pedagogical Institute, then at Arc-en-sons where he is still a teacher today.
 
After the Conservatory, he studied film music composition ("applied music section") for 2 years at the Conservatoire Royal du Carré des arts in Mons.
 
He participated in the BIG Brussels International guitar and competition festival 2018 where he performed as a soloist the Concerto in D Maj by Tedesco, accompanied by the Orchestre de la Chapelle musicale de Tournai. He also performed with the group Black Dünya as soloist and composer, and with the guitar orchestra of the Brussels Conservatory in a personal arrangement of Adele - Skyfall. A medley of Annie Cordy and finally an arrangement of John Williams' 'Shindler's List'.
 
He played Tedesco's concerto again in the Church of St. James in Tournai, again with the orchestra of the Chapelle musicale de Tournai.
 
He participates in the first edition of "Brussels guitar concert" as a guest classical guitarist.
 
He is engaged as a classical and electric guitar soloist in the project
 
"Blinded" for four performances in Bozar. An experimental and immersive musical project in which the audience was blindfolded and surrounded by holographic baffles.
 
During the confinement, he participated, along with a hundred other guitarists, and won first place in the international composition and solo performance competition of the prestigious US guitarist Mc Rocklin.
 
He created a trio on Youtube with Jonas Sanders (drummer of Pro-Pain USA) and Michel Vrydag (bassist and composer of his project Mapping Roots), which recorded and published his own compositions.
 
He arranges, composes and records commissions for various clients.
Since 2018, he is the guitarist of the metal band "Brutal Sphincter" with which he performs internationally (France, Germany, Czech Republic, Hungary, Slovenia, Netherlands, Spain, Romania, Portugal, Slovakia, UK, Poland,
 
Austria, ...) in the biggest festivals and metal institutions in Europe, such as the Metaldays with more than 15.000 spectators and the famous Hellfest with
 
60.000 spectators per day.
 
In 2022, he took part in the "Horns" project, an album linking two styles of music: Big Band jazz ("Big Backing Band" directed by Simon Fache) and metal (Dead Season). He also played at the BIG Brussels International guitar and competition festival, where he performed Joaquin Rodrigo's "Madrigal concerto" accompanied by the Orchestra of the Chapelle musicale of Tournai.
 
He joined the famous Franco-Swiss band XAON as a soloist, which toured the United States, Europe and Japan.
