Biography

After having been chosen by Julian Bream to take part in the 'Rencontres Musicales d'Evian' in 1996, Tristan Manoukian studies under Rene Bartoli at the CNR in Marseille and graduates with a First Prize diploma in classical guitar. Going on to study with Alberto Ponce in Paris, he receives his First Prize diploma in classical guitar from the CNDSM in 1999, as well as his Diploma of Advanced Musical Studies.

As a soloist he performs at international festivals, such as 'Printemps des Arts de Monaco', and participates in various ensembles - Ysire, Rosaces, Polychronies, Alchemy - playing both across France and throughout Europe. Alone with the duo Miscellaneous, which he co-founded with soprano Celine Barcaroli, he gave 80 concerts touring across France in 2015 and 2016.
Tristan is also dedicated to discovering and arranging unheard-of pieces of music, work that is supported by the Canadian publisher 'Les Productions d'Oz'. Composer of music for documentaries, he also worked on a CD of the French Society of Contemporary Music.

Currently, Tristan teaches classical guitar at the CNR of Nice as well as the didactic method at the ‘Pôle Superieur Nord-Pas-de-Calais (ESMD). Since September 2017, he also teaches classical guitar at the CNSM in Paris.
