Specifications
Equitension is a Savarez electric set for 5-string bass in a medium 43-137 gauge. Every string, from the low B to the G, is calculated to pull with the same force: about 38 lbs (17 kg). The feel stays even across all five strings, and the neck stays stable and vibrates freely.
Why equal tension?
In a traditional set, each string pulls differently. Under your fingers, a slack string sits next to a stiff one. These uneven tensions also load the neck unevenly and make it twist.
With Equitension, Savarez adjusts the gauge of each string to balance the set. There is less than 2 lbs (1 kg) between the tightest and the loosest string, low B included.
What you feel
- An even feel: you play the same way from one string to the next.
- A firm low B: 37.5 lbs on the .137, for a tight, defined low end.
- More sustain and a full tone: with no twist, the neck vibrates along its whole length.
- Low action without fret buzz.
The technology
- Precise calculation: the gauge is compensated string by string.
- Hexagonal core: Nickel Explosion round wound that grips the core perfectly, with high precision.
- Equal tension: all 5 strings exert the same force, so the neck stays straight and stable.
