Biography
Born in Toulouse in 1986, Bastien Ribot immersed himself in the world of music by pursuing classical studies under the guidance of Aimée Auriacombe at the conservatory. However, it was his encounter with Gypsy Jazz that marked a decisive turning point in his career, leading him to share the stage with iconic figures of the genre such as Angelo Debarre, Steve Laffont, Tchavolo Schmitt, Rocky Gresset, and Stochelo Rosenberg.
Jazz with Didier Lockwood
After honing his skills at the conservatory, Bastien Ribot delved into the world of jazz alongside Didier Lockwood, graduating from his renowned school. Building on this experience, he founded the RP Quartet with Edouard Pennes, Rémi Oswald, and Damien Varaillon. This group has performed at festivals around the world and in prestigious Parisian venues, leaving an indelible musical mark. The RP Quartet has proudly released four albums under the “Frémeaux & Associés” label.
Musical Creations
Alongside his work with the RP Quartet, Bastien Ribot is involved in several artistic projects such as the Corsican Quartet, François Poitou Quintet, and Gwen Cahue Quartet. However, his dedication to musical composition has intensified within his jazz ensembles, notably with Lo Triò, which includes guitarist Émile Melenchon and double bassist Rémi Bouyssière. Not to mention Violin Standards, a fruitful collaboration with organist Laurent Coulondre and drummer Gautier Garrigue.
Teaching
Since 2015, he has been teaching jazz violin at the Centre des Musiques Didier Lockwood (CMDL), a jazz school that has become a true international reference in jazz and improvised music.
