Grégory Jolivet

Hurdy Gurdy

Biography

Grégory Jolivet has been composing for the alto hurdy-gurdy for about twenty years. Inspired by colors and their respective tonalities, pastels, musical encounters, travels, aquatic immersion, and breath, his music is an alchemy between world music and contemporary creations. His compositions plunge us into an intoxicating universe that alternates between softness and bursts, calm and wild flights, demonstrating that the alto hurdy-gurdy can produce an atmosphere that is both minimalist and symphonic. Grégory simply offers us to share his passion for his instrument and for the stage, in a sound and colorful landscape where emotion is always present.

As a hurdy-gurdy player in the legendary group BLOWZABELLA, Grégory participated in four albums between 2004 and 2020.
In parallel to his stage career, Grégory also teaches hurdy-gurdy at the Issoudun Conservatory (36), as well as in numerous traditional music workshops. The baroque hurdy-gurdy also holds an important place in Grégory's career, notably through his participation in the "Belleté dans le grenier" project alongside François Lazarevitch.
