Biography

After a successful career as a singer in the 80s with his hit Magie Noire, then as a guitarist, notably for Marc Lavoine with whom he performed over 200 concerts, Philippe Russo followed up with a 20-year career as Artistic Director at Sony Music, where he worked with numerous artists including Laurent Voulzy, Patrick Bruel, Jacques Dutronc, Michel Legrand and Natalie Dessay, Hubert Félix Thiefaine, Patrick Fiori, Hélène Ségara, Amel Bent and most of the winners of the M6 show La nouvelle Star.

Thanks to the success of the Americana album he recorded in Nashville with Roch Voisine, Sylvie Vartan and her husband, American producer Tony Scotti, chose him on the advice of Sony Music to organize the recording of the Sylvie in Nashville album.
He has provided artistic direction for all Sylvie's albums since, and produced "Merci pour le regard" (2021) and "Odessa" (2022).

It was also for this expertise and his knowledge of country music that Michel Mallory chose him, on the advice of Sylvie Vartan and Tony Scotti, to provide musical direction for Jean-Baptiste Guegan's shows and produce his 1st album "Puisque c'est écrit" in Nashville with the success we all know.

He also produced the next 2 albums, also in Nashville, "Rester le même" and "Toutes les larmes sèchent un jour".
He co-wrote several songs with Michel Mallory.

The 3 albums have sold a total of 450,000 copies.
He has accompanied Jean-Baptiste Guegan on guitar in concert since 2019.
This represents almost 200 concerts, including 50 Zeniths and one Bercy (Accord Arena)!
