Biography

Formed in 2013 in Strasbourg, the Adastra Quartet claims a very open approach to music, not hesitating to take part in projects that take it beyond the classical framework - even into the worlds of jazz, theatre or contemporary art.
Between modernity and eclecticism, through a strong and singular sensibility, the Adastra Quartet interprets the great works of the repertoire and is part of a process of creation and transmission.

Selected to participate in the "Tremplin pour Jeunes Quatuors" (Springboard for Young Quartets) of the Philharmonie de Paris during the 2016 edition of the String Quartet Biennale, the Adastra Quartet is regularly invited to perform at international festivals. It received the Audience Prize and the Young Audience Prize at the Moments Musicaux du Tarn in 2017. In 2018 it was awarded the Fond'action Alsace prize.

Trained with the Debussy Quartet, several times scholarship holder of the Academy and Festival Musique à Flaine, the quartet integrates the Proquartet institution and had the honour to work with Yovan Markovitch, Luc-Marie Aguera (Ysaÿe Quartet) and Irvine Arditti. He met Hatto Beyerle at the European Chamber Music Academy (ECMA) and studied with the great masters of the genre (Alban Berg, Danel, Manfred, Parisii and Ludwig Quartets).

The Adastra Quartet has already performed or collaborated with many artists and composers such as Pascal Dusapin, Philippe Manoury, Pascal Contet, José-Maria Gallardo del Rey, Armand Angster, Pascal Schumacher, Laurent Wolf, Andréa Ferréol, Léopoldine HH.
