Biography

Kim grew up in a world where everything is possible. From a very young age, she was encouraged by her family to express herself through different arts. Writing, drawing, and fashion from the start. Dance from her mom, Piano and Music Theory from her grandma, yet her major influence when it comes to Rock is her father: Eric Melville. Singer-interpret in prestigious musical productions (Starmania, Hair, Notre Dame de Paris, Mayflower, La Vie en bleu…). Eric joined Universal Music in 2001 and has been composing for many artists, movies and shows since then. By his side, Kim evolved surrounded by guitars, artists from different backgrounds, and was also quickly able to learn and become fluent in English.

She started composing in High- School, but grew artistically when she entered the professional path — guitar in hand — at IMEP-Paris College of Music. These precious years allowed her to discover arrangement, find the gear she now uses to create her own sound, open her mind to different genres of music, including oriental music that she is particularly fond of, namely Anoushka Shankar. By “hitting the walls” she needed to hit, as she says, she found her singularity…and above all, confirmed that she was definitely “ROCK”. While at IMEP, she composed her songs Asmar and Mr My Man.

Kim tells her stories with a distinct voice, exploring her universe from new angles, and offering us to be a part of her journey and share in her vision of the world through her stunning blue eyes.

This includes the cartoon that marked his childhood, as much by the story as by the music and the aesthetics (« Azur and Asmar » for the title « Asmar ») but also a subway exit in London which brings all reflections on everyday life (the title « Time »).

If Jack White or Alice Cooper are a few of her influences, it’s because, according to her, they address topics and tell stories through new angles while staying loyal to their universe. A challenge she’s not afraid to face, as evidenced by her enigmatic song titles (Evil Trouble Cupcake).
